Can You Make Money With ComfyUI in 2026? My Real Results

Can you actually make money with ComfyUI? Yes — but my experience taught me that generating more images is not the same thing as making more money.

I tested two very different ways of monetizing ComfyUI: selling AI-assisted designs through Redbubble and selling technical ComfyUI workflow work as a freelance service.

For the Redbubble experiment, I created roughly 370 designs in about 10 days using ComfyUI and FLUX.1 [dev]. Later, I completed a paid Fiverr job involving a custom IP-Adapter workflow running on a Vast.ai GPU server.

The amounts are small. That is exactly why I think the experiment is useful. This is not a “make $10,000 a month with AI” story. It is a real example of what sold, what did not, and where ComfyUI provided actual economic value.

My Real ComfyUI Results at a Glance





My Redbubble dashboard showed $19.73 in earnings over the displayed 12-month period. The same payment screen showed $10.42 in account fees and an account balance of $9.31.

On Fiverr, I also completed a $15 custom workflow order and received a five-star review. I do not count cancelled Fiverr orders or unfinished orders as income.

These are not life-changing numbers, but they revealed something more useful than a big hypothetical income claim: ComfyUI made it possible for me to test both scalable content production and technical freelance work.

Experiment #1: I Made About 370 Redbubble Designs in 10 Days

My first approach was volume.

I used ComfyUI with FLUX.1 [dev] to produce approximately 370 designs over about 10 days and upload them to Redbubble.

ComfyUI was extremely useful for this part of the process because a workflow can turn repetitive image-generation steps into a repeatable pipeline. Instead of rebuilding the generation process for every design, I could reuse a workflow, change the concept or prompt, generate variations, and move to the next idea.

But there was a problem.

370 designs did not produce 370 opportunities of equal value.

The sales were concentrated in a much smaller number of designs.

What Actually Sold: Timing Beat Volume

One of the niches I deliberately targeted was connected to Minnesota, the “Rebel Loon” theme, and the anti-ICE conversation that was receiving attention at the time.

That niche produced the clearest result in my store.

My Redbubble artwork analytics showed that one design titled “Minnesota Galactic rebel Loon” sold 10 products and generated $5.12 in the earnings view.

That was one of the biggest lessons from the entire experiment.

The workflow gave me production speed. The niche gave the designs a reason to sell.

I could have generated hundreds more random designs, but without demand behind them, additional volume would not necessarily have improved the result.

A timely design aimed at an audience that already cares about a topic can outperform dozens or hundreds of generic uploads.

ComfyUI Was the Accelerator, Not the Business Model

It would be easy to look at this experiment and conclude that ComfyUI generated the income. I do not think that is accurate.

ComfyUI helped me produce and iterate quickly. The business decisions happened outside the workflow: identifying the niche, choosing what to create, deciding when to publish it, writing the listing, and getting the product in front of the right buyer.

That distinction matters if you are thinking about using AI for print-on-demand.

A fast generation workflow can increase your output, but it cannot automatically create customer demand.

Redbubble Fees Also Changed the Result

Gross earnings are not the same as money available for payout.

My dashboard showed $19.73 in earnings, but it also showed $10.42 in account fees and a $9.31 account balance at the time of the screenshot.

Redbubble currently applies account fees to Standard and Premium accounts, while Pro accounts are exempt. The exact economics therefore depend on your account tier, margins, discounts, and the products customers purchase.

This is important when evaluating a print-on-demand experiment. A design can sell and still produce a relatively small final balance after marketplace economics are taken into account.

Experiment #2: Selling a ComfyUI Workflow as a Service

The second experiment was much more technical.

Instead of selling the output of ComfyUI, I sold my ability to work with ComfyUI itself.

I received a Fiverr order for a custom IP-Adapter workflow. The environment was running remotely using Vast.ai rather than relying only on a local GPU.

The completed Fiverr order was priced at $15 and received a five-star review.

This job was more interesting to me than the dollar amount because it demonstrated a second way to monetize ComfyUI.

You do not have to sell AI-generated images. You can sell the technical skill required to build, repair, deploy, or customize the workflows.

What the IP-Adapter Workflow Involved

IP-Adapter is designed to let an image act as conditioning for an image-generation model instead of relying entirely on a text prompt. That makes it useful for workflows involving reference images, subject characteristics, visual style, composition, and other image-guided generation tasks.

In my case, the Fiverr project involved working with an IP-Adapter-based ComfyUI workflow in a cloud GPU environment.

That kind of job requires more than prompt writing.

You need to understand how nodes connect, where models belong, how custom nodes and dependencies behave, what happens when a workflow reports missing components, and how to test the graph until the intended result works reliably.

Vast.ai currently provides documentation and templates for running ComfyUI on cloud GPU instances and for executing ComfyUI workflows remotely, so this general type of setup remains a practical option when local hardware is not sufficient.

Why Freelance Workflow Work May Be More Valuable Than Image Volume



The Redbubble experiment required hundreds of listings to produce a relatively small amount of revenue.

The Fiverr experiment produced a paid order from solving one specific technical problem.

I would not use one $15 order to claim that freelance ComfyUI work is automatically profitable. The sample is far too small for that.

But the difference illustrates something important.

When you sell an AI image, the buyer is paying for an output that may be easy to substitute.

When someone hires you because their workflow does not work, they are paying for troubleshooting, knowledge, configuration, and saved time.

Those are different kinds of value.

The Skills That Made ComfyUI Monetizable for Me

The useful skill was not simply knowing how to click “Run.” It was becoming comfortable enough with node-based workflows to modify an existing graph, connect image-conditioning tools, load models, work with custom nodes, diagnose errors, and run the setup on remote GPU infrastructure.

If I were starting again with the goal of making money from ComfyUI, I would therefore spend less time trying to become the fastest person at generating images and more time learning how to solve workflow problems that other people cannot solve themselves.

That can include workflow customization, debugging missing nodes, cloud deployment, automation, inpainting pipelines, reference-image conditioning, reusable templates, and adapting workflows to a client's production process.

What I Would Do Differently on Redbubble

I would not make another 370-design sprint simply because ComfyUI makes that possible.

I would use the speed to test ideas faster, not to upload everything faster.

For example, I would research a niche first, create a smaller group of distinct concepts, publish them, observe which themes attract sales, and then create additional variations only around ideas showing actual demand.

The Minnesota Rebel Loon result is the reason.

A relatively small part of the catalog generated a disproportionate amount of the meaningful activity. More deliberate testing would probably have saved time while producing cleaner data about what buyers actually wanted.

A Warning About Trends and Intellectual Property

Trend targeting does not remove copyright, trademark, publicity-right, or marketplace-policy risks.

A topic being popular does not automatically mean every phrase, logo, character, photograph, celebrity likeness, or visual reference connected to that topic is safe to sell.

If you use print-on-demand marketplaces, research the intellectual-property status of the concepts you use and review the marketplace's current rules before publishing commercial products.

An Important FLUX.1 [dev] Licensing Note

I used FLUX.1 [dev] during this experiment, so there is an important licensing distinction anyone attempting to reproduce my setup should understand.

Black Forest Labs currently distributes the FLUX.1 [dev] model under its FLUX.1 [dev] Non-Commercial License. The license says that generated outputs may be used for purposes including commercial purposes, but it separately restricts commercial and production use of the FLUX.1 [dev] model itself and defines revenue-generating model use as outside its Non-Commercial Purpose.

In other words, permission to commercially use an output should not automatically be interpreted as unrestricted permission to operate the FLUX.1 [dev] weights as part of a commercial production workflow.

So, Can You Make Money With ComfyUI?

My answer is yes, but ComfyUI itself is not the business.

In my Redbubble experiment, ComfyUI allowed me to generate approximately 370 designs quickly, but the strongest documented result came from one timely Minnesota Rebel Loon design that sold 10 products.

In freelancing, ComfyUI became valuable in a different way: I could work on a client's custom IP-Adapter workflow in a remote GPU environment and complete a paid Fiverr order.

Those two experiments taught me the same lesson from opposite directions.

Automation creates leverage. Demand creates revenue.

If nobody wants the product, generating it faster does not solve the problem. But if someone already has a problem and you know how to use ComfyUI to solve it, the workflow itself can become a marketable skill.

Is ComfyUI Worth Learning for Freelancing in 2026?

I think it can be — especially if you learn beyond basic text-to-image generation.

The more valuable skills are often the less glamorous ones: debugging, understanding model requirements, dealing with custom nodes, image conditioning, inpainting, cloud GPUs, reusable workflow design, and explaining the finished workflow so another person can actually use it.

You do not need hundreds of clients before that knowledge becomes useful. My own evidence is small: one documented completed Fiverr order and a modest Redbubble experiment.

But it is real evidence, and it was enough to change how I think about monetizing generative AI.

I no longer see ComfyUI primarily as a machine for producing more images.

I see it as a system for building repeatable AI processes — and the process can sometimes be more valuable than the image it produces.
